DIY Natural Pine Cone Bird Feeders

Natural Pine Cone Bird Feeder

It's been quite sometime since my last blog post!
Life has been very busy, and we have made a lot of positive changes.
Now that life has settled down a little I have some more time commit to this blog again.
                                                                            Yay!

This past weekend the kids and I made some natural bird feeders, they are very easy to make and the kids love getting messy while making these fun feeders!  We LOVE wildlife and watching all the critters that come to our yard and garden. So anything that will attract more wildlife is always welcome.

All you will need to make these natural bird feeders are:  string (we used hemp), natural "just peanuts" peanut butter, pine cones and bird food!

First thing to do is cut off enough string so you can tie your pine cone to a tree branch.

Then you tie the string in a knot around the pine cone, make sure it is secure.

After that start smearing your pine cone with the peanut butter, using a spoon will keep your fingers mess free.  The kids love this part!

Next roll the pine cone coated in peanut butter in the bird seed, the seed sticks to the peanut butter very easily.

A little friend decided to come have a taste while I was making these.  Chipmunks and squirrels will love these little feeders as well!

Lastly tie your feeders to a branch, closely as I find it's easier for the birds to reach.  Then watch for the birds to arrive, it took only moments before the chick a dee's starting landing.  Chick a dee's and Nuthatches loved them the most although it wasn't long before a few blue Jay's arrived as well!

                                            Careful leaving your ingredients unattended!!!

Now sit back and enjoy the entertainment your backyard birds will bring!

                                                                           Enjoy!
