DIY: Easy Paper Pennant Banner (No Sew!) Tutorial

This will probably be one of the easiest crafts you will ever make!   I few months back I was in a time crunch and needed to make a banner asap, knowing that sewing one wasn't an option I decided to try my hand at making one out of paper.

Years ago I stocked up on scrap book paper that was on sale at Costco, so luckily I didn't even have to leave my house to create my pennant banner.  All the other supplies you should probably already have on hand as well.

                      You will need:

                      Scrap Book Paper
                      String or Ribbon
                      Hole Punch

With designing a paper pennant the possibilities are endless, the size and number of flags are up to you.  I chose to use 12 flags measuring approx. 5" wide and 5" long.

Try to limit waste and make the most out of your scrap paper by rotating your flags, it works out nicely and actually creates less work by using one line for two flags like in the photo below.

After cutting out all of the flags it is time to punch the holes.  Using four holes per flag works well with keeping the flags flat.  Use your discretion on where to place the holes or measure it's up to you, I just eye balled it.  Once you have your first flag punched, use it as a guide for the other flags by placing it on top of the next flag and punching through the existing holes, that way they are all equal.

Now you are ready to string your flags!  You can use a pattern to place them or place them randomly.   I used three different designs and repeated it after every third flag was placed.  Make sure you measure correctly for the length of your string and give yourself some extra in case you need to tie your ends.

Voila!  How easy was that!?  These pennant banners can be a lot of fun, they are great for parties especially birthday parties!  You can easily add lettering to the flags, or double the scrap booking paper with two different patterns.  I have since made another banner using squares instead of triangles and it turned out really well.

Imagination is key when it comes to creating, have fun!
