A Day At The Office...

Today was a day for...
placing a few items back on my studio shelves...

having a certain somebody snuggle at my feet
while I worked...

enjoying  the view of a cold Winter's day
from my studio window...
(one nice thing is in the Winter you can actually see the bay!)

having the pleasure of an extremely colourful audience...

and a pretty amazing and silly little helper!

Here's hoping that your day at the office and your weekend
are just as wonderful as my day has been...so far!
Smiles.

Free Pattern: Chunky Knit Mittens

I came across a really quick knit for chunky mittens that I thought I would share with you all.  It is from Lion Brand Yarn Free Patterns you can link to it here: http://www.lionbrand.com/patterns/80673AD.html?r=1

I added a simple knit flower with a cute wooden button to one of the mittens.

By adding the little knit flower to one mitten it compliments the flower beanie really nicely and makes a really cute hat and mitt set.

This free pattern is great for novice knitters since the instructions are very basic and easy to follow.  I highly    recommend this  free mitten pattern for first time mitten knitters.  No tears, I promise!!!  Enjoy!

Pretty In Pink

I love making baby knits, especially newborn!
These are for a friend of mine that is due in March.

I have just started working on the matching sweater, oh so cute!

I thought the tiny knit flowers were the perfect embellishment to finish them off.

Come back soon to see the finished set.
Love.

Spring 2011 Fashion Trends

Yes!  It is almost that time again...the birds will be singing, the crocus blooming, the crisp fresh air blowing through my bedroom window...Spring is on it's way and even though it hasn't sprung yet the upcoming fashion trends for Spring 2011 have and I am ready to share!

It doesn't seem like there is a whole lot "new" for Spring 2011 but that is good news considering you can just ransack your closet to put together the hottest fashion.

Bold Colours:

The popular colours of the season are loud oranges, bright pinks and radiant reds.  Think flowers, tropical flowers!

50', 60's and 70's:

Fashion trends from the 50's and 60's are making a comeback this season.  Fabrics with a strong femininity, a hip hugging sheath dress and below the knee hem.  From the 70's it's boho chic that still holds strong along with that is sophisticated glamour.  Think Annie Hall.

Biker and Punk Fashion:

Both these trends are being carried over from last year.  Really nothing new or to exciting, think military and Brando mixed with motorcycle chic.

Clothing Trends:

Here are a few of the most popular clothing trends os the season:

Stripes
Jumpsuits
Bell Bottoms
Capri's and Wide Leg Pants
Crochet and Lace
Tassels

Accessories:

Belt Purse
And Cat Eye Sunglasses

oh yes, and Clogs are back!

Progress Happens

Oh my, did I ever underestimate how much work this "studio makeover" was going to take me!  And when I say "me" that includes my right hand being my father and my left hand being my mother...and of course a little help from my man...my three year old artist as you will see pictured below.

Above is my extremely helpful father whom is a pro at wallpapering and decided it was best for every ones sanity if he came over and hung it himself!  (There was an incident a couple of weeks back where the wallpaper had gone terribly wrong resulting in a tear down...note to self, next time remember to check lot numbers when buying multiple rolls especially when they cost $40 a roll!)  One saving grace was that I wasn't completely happy with the pattern on the first round so it worked out in the end...usually everything does.

My mom was a huge help with painting and is a perfectionist so the paint job is pretty much flawless. Love. The patch pictured above was painted by Ash (he was allowed to paint under where the wallpaper was to be placed, he was so proud!) So I guess the makeover is slowly coming to a close, the wallpaper should be finished later in the week, the baseboards to follow when time finds appropriate.  Then the fun part...decorating! And de-cluttering...I have promised myself not to bring back in as many items that were cleared out to do this makeover, it's hard being a crafter...I find I save pretty much anything I can just in case there may later be a use for it...somewhere.  So excited to have my workspace back soon! Happiness.
