Best Yarns for Summer Knitting/Crocheting

I have decided to list some of the best yarns you can use to create some summer projects with!

Summer is no time to break away from the yarn and put you needles to rest, this is one of the best times to unwind on the porch with a nice and light summery project.

Some fibers are much better than others to wear in the heat, the first one that comes to mind that breaths really well is cotton. Cotton and very easy to knit with and comes in a wide variety of colours, do keep in mind though that cotton does stretch. Some ideas to create with cotton are: a nice eyelet shrug or maybe some colourful placemats.

Cotton blends are great also, this is when cotton is blended with another type of yarn like merino. A nice light lacy evening sweater would be great in a blend.

Worsted weight is very common and can be found at almost all craft stores, it is very affordable and comes in an array of colours. Worsted weight is great for summer accessories, summer afghans, and shawls just to name a few.

Bamboo and silk yarns are also great. They work well for light projects, they are a bit on the pricey side but well worth the splurge if you are looking for a really beautiful outcome, think buttery in texture!

DK weight yarn is another great choice for summer projects. This type of yarn is very popular. This yarn is a light-worsted-weight yarn between worsted and sport yarn, and knits quickly for any project!

The hardest part will be picking out the colours! 'Bubble Gum', 'Lavender Breeze', 'Peaches and Cream', 'Magenta Sunset', they sound so good you could almost eat them up! Well, almost!!!

What's on your needles for the Summer?
