Turning back the hands of time.

After my first two sewing lessons my mind is exploding with endless ideas of creativity! Right now I am working on my headband and reusable shopping bag, these patterns were created and designed by myself. The pieces are all cut out and ready to be sewn together.

I really feel that learning a new hobby has opened many doors for me and I am really looking forward to the many items I will be creating on this journey. From bags to purses, clothing for myself and my son, to different useful items around the house. I love the character that handmade items consist of, it's like turning back the hands of time where cell phones didn't exist and life was a little more simplified.

One of my favourite yearly trips that my mom and I take together with my son is to the Mennonite county a couple away from my hometown. We have been taking these little mini vacations since I was in my early teens and a lot of what I have seen there has been the root of many inspirations including their basic way of living, simple home decor, homemade meals and so much more. Most of the children's clothing and toys are homemade and the children learn the art of sewing, knitting and cooking etc... at a very young age. So much of this is lost in our modern day living and I find this very bothersome. So at least for now I will try to keep the art of handmade items alive and well in my home and hand these teachings to my son and future children to come.
